Body Language, First Impressions VIdeo Hints
This is an extremely short clip, but it packs an extremely enduring message about nonverbal communication. This clip and you making a first impression have one thing in common -- they both take about 30 seconds from start to finish.
This is based on peer-reviewed literature on what constitutes "positive" body language, which is ill-defined in the literature. In mid-lecture this is also a good excuse to have groups stand, stretch and refocus. Students can then be asked to demonstrate these techniques in general class conversation or in negotiations with fellow students.
