After 10 years teaching people how to defuse conflict situations, it occurred to me that maybe we should spend more time preventing unnecessary conflict rather than always fighting large forest fires. Several years ago I wrote Conflict Prevention In The Workplace which defined two different types of language; that which causes conflict and that which creates bridges.

That's what this seminar is about. It is intended to teach people to get along more effectively by helping them learn better language and conflict prevention skills. As such is is one of the only seminars of its type, which focuses on prevention.

This seminar is customized and is one day long (although longer more intense sessions can be arranged).

Following is additional information.

Intent is to:

  • prevent unnecessary conflict from happening
  • reduce the chances that minor conflict will escalate
  • reduce conflict personalization (personality conflict)
  • maximize the positive outcomes of conflict and minimize the negative outcomes

As with all our seminars, we will be delivering this on an intact workgroup basis at the request of client organizations. This allows us to deal with the specific problems of a particular workplace by basing the final content on an appropriate needs assessment.

It also fits for supervisors, staff and managers who would like to reduce the amount of unnecessary conflict in their workplaces. Special sessions can be arranged for managers only.
