Why Is Business Agility SO Important For Business Owners & Webmasters?

Business agility -- the ability to do the right things and to get them done fast is clearly one of the top requirements for creating an online business presence or a website that generates revenue over the long term Why?

It's pretty simple. It's the pace of change on the Internet. Old ways of generating revenue online disappear or lose value, sometimes in less than a year. New ways emerge, sometimes out of nowhere. If you can't be agile -- shifting from what worked before to what will work now and in the immediate future, you die on the Internet. And, of course the faster you move, the more you have competitive advantage over the multitudes that are slower.

By identifying opportunity early and developing a plan to take advantage of that opportunity, AND, implementing (in effect, getting it to market), you end up with huge advantages. But to do that you have to plan to be agile, and you have to have a flexible but focused strategic and business plan.

It's easy to see that the first in (with major companies) in the past are the winners today, PROVIDED they implemented quickly, and implemented well. Ebay comes to mind. Google comes to mind. Amazon comes to mind. And these winners not only use their initial advantage, but stay dynamic and introduce new services and products to take advantage of new opportunities.

This is no different for small internet businesses. Agility helps you stand out in the crowd. Do things faster, earlier, and better to meet the needs of your website visitors, and the environmental conditions (e.g shifts in search engine ranking algorithms), and you are likely to do far better than your slower and less able competitors.

Be ready for the next thing (e.g. blogs, rss feeds, video...). Plan for them. Anticipate them.
