Leadership Success Without Management Expertise?

The answer is yes. It is possible to be successful as a leader without being a great manager or possessing excellent management skills, because while the skills necessary for leadership and management overlap considerably, there are significant differences between the skill sets.

Leaders can be successful with being excellent managers by being aware of their own shortcomings, and making sure they surround themselves with people (managers) who can supply what the leaders themselves cannot.
